Measuring Your Pet

Accurate measurements of your dog are essential for selecting the right size of collar. This process ensures comfort and safety for your pet. Here are the key steps to effectively measure your dog.

First, gather the necessary tools: a flexible measuring tape, a pen, and paper to record the measurements. It is advisable to have your dog standing on a flat surface to obtain precise measurements.

Start by measuring your dogs head at the largest point, usually around the jaw and in front of the ears. It shouldn't be too tight but should be snug. Our collars are made to order and have a welded O ring so by measuring at the largest point, this gives the collar room to slip on.

Next, measure the neck circumference. Wrap the measuring tape around the widest part of your dog's neck, typically just above the collar area. Ensure that the tape is snug but not too tight; you should be able to fit two fingers between the tape and your dog’s neck. If your pup is fluffy or long haired, you may wish to add up to 1 inch extra. Record this measurement.

Please use the larger of the two measurements you have taken to order your collar size and enable the collar to slip on comfortably.

It is advisable to repeat each measurement at least twice to ensure accuracy. Variations can occur due to movement or positioning, so consistency is key. If your dog is still growing, consider measuring them every few months to accommodate their changing size.

Our collars are handmade to order and feature plastic coated steel rope wire for maximum durability. They have a welded O ring and our beads range from silicone to acrylic and come in a range of sizes and huge array of colours.

Sparkle Paws Bead Co Collars are 'Fashion Collars' and whilst they are durable, we do not recommend for heavy duty use or dogs with a tendency to pull. We highly recommend using a harness as the primary restraint when walking your pup and the Fashion Collar as an accessory as intended.
